Lore finding #2: Accident Location
Warning: this is a very deep dive.
To a naive reader this accident would’ve been thought to have happened in front of the hotel that Alfred and April walked into (Plaza Hotel). That is nowhere near correct and here’s why:
First, you would need to observe the dialogue of Beck talking to Bryce in chapter 2. Beck arrives at the building for his special delivery with the sky still bright blue. With this detail, we can incorporate the series of events spanning from Beck’s arrival, to the accident happened between mid-day and late afternoon. After Beck’s awkward encounter with Benedict, Beck crosses paths with Audrey. Now this is where it gets tricky. At the end of chapter 1, Audrey is in the backseat of a car with her eyes locked on a depressed Angel. Yet here she is walking to Benedict’s harem when beck is leaving. How is this possible? Well let’s go back to a big timestamp we can use, the rain. It starts raining when Angel arrives at April’s bakery. When Angel misinterprets April and Alfred it is pouring with rain which continues when Audrey passes Angel in the car. Audrey was going to the building to see Benedict’s harem. But this isn’t the time where she runs away after seeing it because I believe this is her second encounter with it (more on this in a later lore piece). Beck then goes home and soon after, Bryce calls him. After Beck makes plans to meet Bryce face to face, he leaves his house and it has stopped raining. At the accident scene, there was no rain. This means that Beck hit Angel on his way to Bryce. Not only this, at the end of chapter one, Annie is struck by fear. At first I assumed she had a bad feeling about Angel. In actually what probably happened was that the accident was close to Angel and Annie’s house. Angel was slowly trudging home when he was struck by Beck in his car and it happened in earshot of Annie.
